sweaty perspectives

so on saturday, after a really difficult workout, i sat down in a sauna. i started talking to the guy next to me..cuz hellp, if im going to be somehwere for twenty to thirty minutess, and have the opportunity to gain perspective, im not gonna miss it! so we were talking, and something he said struck me:
"when youre working out, even though focus and anger helps you go hard, push past, your face becomes hard, focused, mean. your face look like this (insert frowning, crinkly face). and den people ask me 'are you mean'. i say no. dey say 'but all the time i see you, your face looks mean. your face change, it becomes hard. you canno change your face once it gets like that"
so i started thinking about the times when im so focused on the task ahead of me. my mind is tracked on one thing, and sometimes i ignore everything else. thats when i think focus becomes a bad thing...when we allow our focus to block us from living-enjoying-dancing in life.
dont let your face change to mean :)

hips

...so from all my reading and studying for my ryt200, im learning a ton. right now im learning about the foundation of different pose types. the categories are inversions, standing, twist, turns, hip openers, and seated. i found this so interesting about hip openers:
people store emotion and creativity in their hips.
the goal of each yoga pose is to open up the energy flow (blood, awareness, intentions). so when the energy flow is closed in the hips..which is felt by tightness in our hips..our emotions are closed and creativity is blocked.
interesting correlation between woman, hips, and emotions. one of the things woman are known for are their hips and emotions.
another interesting correlation, when woman are pregnant, their hips widen. as woman are mothering, their hips widen, open. they gain emotions as they are producing life.
ladies, lets loosen up those hips to allow emotions and creativity flow :)

i've been thinking about the word
FEAR

is fear a choice-something we allow to overcome us?
or
is fear in control-something that we cannot overpower?

WHO IS IN CHARGE

where is our focus

in the Word, there is so much knowledge and statements like "do this" and "rememember that". it is impossible to rememeber them all, much less follow them...Christ followers (myself so included) get bogged down.
but the heart of the Word isnt found in following all guidelines for moral living....
the heart of the Word is found in falling in love with the person of Jesus. as one falls in love with Him, change does happen...He changes our desires. so we atually WANT to love others, and to love ourselves.
it all boils down to love God, love others.
and as He is changing our heart to love others, we find we actually are fullfilling guidelines (Romans 13:8)
but our focus is on loving God and then loving others.
